Description: Gemma had an immense love for the poor and helped them in any way she could. When she was of an age to get married she declined two marriage offers and went a life of seclusion and silence. All she wanted was to speak to God. On June 8, 1899 she started to develop deep cuts all over her body that would bleed profusely from Thursday to Saturday morning when they would close up by themselves and disappear. It was through her prayers that the phenomenon stopped.
