Saint: St. Clare of Assisi

Description: Clare was a rich, beautiful young girl when she decided to run away from home to become poor so that she could be closer to Jesus. She had her beautiful long hair cut off, wore a rough brown habit, wore no shoes, ate no meat, lived in a poor house and kept silent most of the time. Yet she was very, very happy.
Death: She became very sick and after suffering for many, many years she died in extreme poverty in 1253.
